Captain America: Civil War Movie Review

Captain America: Civil War is the Marvel Studios film and the 13th film in the MCU and the first film in Phase Three as it is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and released in 2016. This film is one of the best MCU films as it is pretty much Avengers 2.5.

Chris Evans returns as Captain America and once again gives it all his heart. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Iron Man and as always is fantastic. I loved all of the characters basically. I loved their development in this film as we see Cap and Stark's friendship take a toll. Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and Paul Rudd returns and does great in the film as it sets up what is next for their characters and explores them more. Daniel Brühl portrays the antagonist Helmut Zemo who is different than other antagonists but is unique as he is one who plans things out. But what I loved the new characters Spider-Man and Black Panther. Tom Holland did such a fantastic job portraying the new version of the Web-Head and Chadwick Boseman was fantastic as Black Panther. The two stole the show.

The film is about the Avengers facing the consequences of past events as it fractures the team into two opposing sides as Bucky is the center of it all. This film was super entertaining from the beginning as it is action-packed with great fight scenes. One thing that was great was how the teams were divided. It had the viewers agreeing with both sides and jumping back and forth from Team Cap and Team Iron Man understanding both sides. The emotion in the film was an important factor and it played out so well.

A few flaws this film has is that they used Crossbones as a one-off and just wasted him. Another thing is Marvel teasing Sharon Carter to be fighting along with Cap, teasing a huge role for her and not even doing it.

But this is one of the best MCU films. It is in my top 5 MCU films as it is epic. I can't wait for the Falcon and Winter Soldier series as it seems to have the same feel as the Captain America films.
