Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the Marvel Studios film and the 15th film in the MCU as James Gunn returns to write and direct it as it was released in 2017. The first Guardians of The Galaxy was a hit that shocked everyone, and Vol 2 did not disappoint at all. This film was one of the ones I was looking forward to the most back in 2017.
The Guardians portrayed by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper returns who are one again hilarious and perfect in their roles. Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan return as Yondu and Nebula which was great seeing and learning more. The film also stars Kurt Russell as Ego and Pom Klementieff as Mantis whose weirdness fits right with Guardians. He was an interesting character as there is a mystery with him being Quill's father. It had a lot of character development. I felt like Rocket was the one who developed the most in this film out of all the other guardians. And Baby Groot is a scene-stealer.
The film is about Peter learning more about his parentage as his father finds him with the Guardians helping him out. The film of course is hilarious as it had more humor than the previous one, as well as the heartwarming touchy moments that made the first film great. The humor felt natural and not forced. What I liked is the mystery behind Peter's father as fans been having theories. I loved learning more about the characters such as Yondu as it makes the viewer care for him and understands them more. What I also loved about this film is how colorful it is as it is more vibrant and beautiful than the first film. Also Awesome Mix Vol. 2 is better than Vol. 1.
A few minor flaws with the film is that I wish it did more with the Gold people and explored more of Yondu's past with Stallone's group of Ravengers.
Overall, it had heart. It's a fact James Gunn nailed it again. While I liked the first story more, I loved aspects of this film more. I cannot wait for the Holiday special and Vol. 3.
