Moon Knight Review

Moon Knight is one of the recent MCU Disney+ series as Mohamed Diab, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson directed the series which was released in March 2022. Moon Knight has been a high-in-demand character to be seen in live-action and this does not disappoint.

The series stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector/ Steven Grant who is the Moon Knight. Isaac is phenomenal in the series and nails it as the character. While of course there are some differences to the comic, it's still really good, especially Isaac switching between Marc and Steven. Ethan Hawke plays the antagonist Arthur Harrow who was great. One of the better antagonists in Phase 4 as most of them have been letdowns. The series also stars May Calamawy as Layla who steals the show and F. Murray Abraham as the voice of Khonshu. One of the best parts of the show was the character interactions and dynamics.

The series is about Steven Grant who is a normal guy discovering he has DID and shares a body with Marc Spector and possibly someone else and must deal with it as the Moon Knight to go to Egypt to stop Harrow from unleashing a powerful god that can end the world. What the series did with exploring DID has been said to be accurate as it was important for them to get right. Many things that stood out throughout the series were the supernatural stuff, sometimes giving it Indiana Jones and Uncharted vibes with the adventure, to the action/ choreography, the cinematography, and the score.

A few minor flaws with the series is that it could have shown more Jewish representation as it is important for Marc in the comics, but at the same time it felt there would have not been enough time to explore more of it as the main focus was exploring Marc's DID. Some CGI especially in the finale could have been better. Also, the finale felt a bit rushed too, and could have used more and been longer.

Overall I loved this series. In my opinion, this and Loki have been two of the best MCU Disney+ shows. I hope for a future project whether it's a film or a second season gets green-lit in the future because I need more Moon Knight!
